There, the demi-goddess, played by Gal Gadot, has been raised far from the eyes of men – and safe from the vengeance of Ares, the God of War.

The filmmaker explained in an interview with Cinema Blend that while she’s definitely all for other movies pushing the boundaries with an R rating, it just would not work with the narrative planned for Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman may not be the movie I imagined as a seven-year-old, but it’s probably going to blow some new seven-year-old minds.

Gal Gadot was amazing as Wonder Woman on Batman v Superman(to the point that the only part that some people really loved about the movie was her). I hope that we won’t be fighting each other.

Women have it rough, and so does “Wonder Woman“.

Here’s 10 reasons to be optimistic about the Wonder Woman movie.

Little Diana (and then teenage Diana, and then the young woman Diana) is obsessed with becoming the greatest warrior on the island, much to the chagrin of her mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen). You are simply not used to seeing a character like Wonder Woman on screen, but with her debut moment turned up to the max, it’s truly magnificent.

“Psychological propaganda for the new type of woman who should, I believe, rule the world”: That’s how Marston, recoiling from the cultural impact of Superman and his macho ilk, described Wonder Woman, the Amazonian Princess Diana of Themyscira, golden child of an all-female island paradise protected from the outside world. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny. After one of the most agreeably freakish action scenes ever staged – a beachfront battle-of-the-sexes between men with guns and pirouetting women with bows and arrows – Diana is compelled to enter “the world of men” and stop the war, aided by her sword, shield and magic lasso.

As part of the current Multiverse event To End All Wars, all Injustice 2 players have a chance to earn Wonder Woman’s gear from the film through June 5.

Gadot is positively luminous, but the simplistic script doesn’t test her acting mettle and she struggles to scrape off syrup from the film’s central assertion that love alone can defeat war.

If you’re of the belief that WB desperately needed to inject a bit more heart into The DCEU then Wonder Woman is the movie you’ve been waiting for.

Beyond the numbers, “Wonder Woman” must also bear the weight of the feminist anticipation that has been building steadily around the film for years. This tribe of athletic, leather-clad female warriors live in a bubble of classical antiquity, oblivious to the opposite sex and the first world war that rages outside. I love her as a person. But at the same time, I had to focus on my responsibility, which was to help tell the story in the most interesting and original way and authentic way that I could and give it my 100% effort. Get your tickets now because this is a movie you don’t want to miss. For the first time in a long time, I came out of a DC comic book movie feeling ready for a sequel.

Lucy Davis’s appearance as Steve’s adorable secretary is welcome if all too brief, while Huston is a suitably hissable, albeit not too overblown bad-guy, and Elena Anaya brings a note of pathos to supporting foe Doctor Poison.

All signs point to Wonder Woman being a huge success – both financially and critically.
